Aquaculture: rain and heat do not wait for your schedule

On a shrimp farm, weather is not context — it is a daily operational variable. Preparing for heavy rain, heat spells and pond-work windows is decided ahead of time, and a generic provincial forecast is not enough. We adapt it to your location and your operation.

Who it is for

Production managers, pond supervisors and shrimp-farm administrators: whoever decides event preparation, field work and water management.

Decisions we can help with

Operational decision Horizon Maturity
Weather-aware pond monitoring priorities Weather Available for tailored pilots

Seasonal readiness Seasonal Case-by-case evaluation

Possible inputs and deliverables

A pilot can start with public or licensed atmospheric and coastal information. Pond observations, operational logs and site-specific thresholds can materially improve relevance.

Example deliverables include a decision-focused outlook, agreed thresholds, short operational notes, and a review of performance against the customer's own decision criteria.

What a delivery could look like

Preparation panel · generic coastal shrimp farm.

Day Expected conditions Attention Operational read
TUE Rain ~15 mm · max 31°C Medium Morning work window
WED Heavy rain, ~60 mm · max 33°C High Prioritise checks on rain-sensitive ponds
THU Gradual clearing · max 34°C Medium Sustained heat: move heavy work to dawn

Illustrative example with synthetic data. Sensitive ponds and rain and temperature thresholds are defined with each client; it does not correspond to a real client.

You can start without buying a weather station

A pilot can start with available observations and numerical models calibrated for the coast. And if you already have farm rainfall records, operational history or any observation of your own, we bring them in to sharpen the personalisation.

Explicit capability limits

  • We do not diagnose biological conditions in shrimp (disease, physiological stress, health status).
  • We do not predict water quality without suitable farm data; meteorology is an input, not a substitute for in-pond measurement.
  • We do not make treatment recommendations (chemical, biological or health-management).
  • We do not issue official alerts: those are the exclusive responsibility of the Ecuadorian State (SGR/INAMHI).
  • We do not install sensors or equipment: we work 100 % with software and data.
